About Us

Our Origin Story

From FMA to IFMA

Fan manufacturing in India took root in the 1920s-30s, with Calcutta emerging as one of the country's earliest production hubs.

By 1950, a group of dedicated industry entrepreneurs came together to form the Fan Makers Association (FMA), laying the foundation for collective industry action.

As the industry evolved, FMA transitioned into the Indian Fan Manufacturers Association (IFMA) around the turn of the century, reflecting a broader and more forward-looking role for the association.
